In Guerrero State, Mexico there is Iguala, and has become better known for a mystery than the peaceful rural life. In September, 2014, 43 students suddenly went missing. The students had travelled by busy from a teacher’s college in Ayotzinapa to state a protest, where the mayor’s wife was speaking. It is said that at some point the police had them at gunpoint on the edge of the city under the mayor’s orders. José Luis Abarca Velázquez then went into hiding along with his wife and the police chief, the mayor and his wife were caught a few weeks later.

On that day two students and three bystanders were killed when the police confronted the students, the shooting then strafed across nearby buildings with their bullets. Supposedly the students were handed over to a local cartel, the Guerreros Unidos. The next day the body of one of the students was dumped in the streets of Iguala, his skin had been removed from his face. The people and local government security forces have been combing the local area trying to find them. During this they have uncovered a number of mass graves and it serves as a horrific reminder about how routine murders appear to have become.

The local mountains around Iguala are locally referred to as a graveyard, and sadly the students have not been located. All around the area there are pictures, placards and posters trying to locate the missing students. The 43 missing students have come to stand for the tens of thousands of other people that have lost their lives in the ongoing Mexican drug wars. It also stands for some as a poignant statement about the lack of government accountability.

It has meant that the governor of Guerrero has been forced to resign, 80 people with over half of those being police have been arrested. There are few signs that the protests will die down any time soon, and when the police started to crack down on the harder protesters this incited further anger. The result is that Iguala now looks like the aftermath of a warzone, and vigilantes patrol the streets looking for the missing, the military and federal police are constantly circling the town’s streets.

Not far away from Iguala in Ayotzinapa the family members have turned the classrooms into communal sleeping areas, there they have a banner over the schools entrance demanding justice. There is an impromptu memorial that was photographed by a blogger that visited, it consists of 46 orange chairs, for those missing and those confirmed as dead.

Hilda Legideño Vargas is one of those with a missing son; he was on his way to Iguala and said he would text on his way home. The text and her son never came and like many she is left with a hole in her life where her son should be, or at the very least some answers…

In September, 2015 after a six month investigation led by a panel of experts assembled by Inter-American Commission on Human Rights released its results. They came to the conclusion that the claim from the Government about them being killed in a garbage dump, having been mistaken for a drug gang, was ‘scientifically impossible’ given the settings of the situation. There are some others that say, however, that this investigation had shortcomings and feel that this explanation is plausible. So the response is that the government will carry out a new investigation and take further opinions about what happened to the students the night they were presumably killed.

The Romanian forest claims to be the most haunted forest in the wood. At 20 hectares the forest is sometimes referred to as the Bermuda Triangle. Visitors to the area often report feelings of anxiety or like they are being watched. This was one of the things covered by Ghost Adventures when they visited, and yes you can laugh, I still watch because they go to places I want too. Shame on me?

The forest was named after a shepherd, he apparently disappeared with a flock of two hundred sheep. Now not only that but in the 1960’s the forest gained another event of a note, a biologist Alexandru Sift who snapped a UFO in the sky above the forest. August 18th 1968, Emil Barnea captured something too and by the 1970’s it was a hotspot for sightings.

It is also said it could be a gateway to another dimension and another local story says that a 5 year old got lost and wandered into the woods before disappearing. 5 years later she came out untarnished and in the same clothes. There is no clear indicator in regards to when this happened however.

How about the ghost of murdered Russian peasants? The souls of the unfortunates are trapped and angered by their predicament. Still not convinced? What about an area where there is no vegetation even though research suggests there is nothing in the soul to cause it.

Strange noises, UFO’s, voices, vortex’s, disappearances, rashes and scratches on visitors and more! If you visit and experience anything I’d love to hear it!

Conspiracy theorists no doubt love this one, the JFK assassinations. Here’s a brief lowdown for you, with some of the notes I’ve found floating around the internet.

John F Kennedy, US president, died 1.00pm on November 22nd, 1963 in Parkland Hospital, Dallas having been shot half an hour earlier in his car, he was waving to spectators as they passed the Texas School Depository. The first shot missed him, the second pass through his neck and hit Texas Governor, John Connally, and the third shot proved to be the fatal one. The Vice President, Lyndon Johnson was sworn in immediately.

1.15pm Tippit, a Dallas policeman was shot dead, the killer ran into a cinema and was arrested. Lee Harvey Oswald was the man, he was identified as having left behind a rifle at the Book Depository Building. He was charged with double murder and whilst being moved to the county jail, Jack Ruby, pushed through reporters and shot him dead. There was to be no trial for the murderer of the president.

So the conspiracy theorists? They wonder if he could have made all three shots in 8 seconds, or if there was another shooter on the grassy gnoll? After all it seems that Jack Ruby had been able to to get through to walk up and shoot Oswald.

Sometimes the oldies are the best, here goes!

John Smith was an only child and he loved scary things, such was his love of these things that he pranked and scared other people on the net where he could. John lived in Plainfield, Wisconsin and come November 2007 he got an e-mail from two girls, the Smith Sisters, Lisa and Sarah.

They claimed to be his older sisters and said they used to live in the house. He replied saying he had no sisters and to be left alone. The reply had a photo of them both, it said they had been murdered anonymously. An article about the two sisters was provided from 1993, saying they had been found in the closet skinned alive.

“In 1993, two sisters were brutally murdered in the small-town community of Plainfield, Wisconsin. Lisa Smith, 19 and her sister, Sarah Smith, 15 were attacked in their parent’s home on the night of November 17th, around 1:30AM. The Smith Sisters were lying in bed when a crazed killer broke into the house. No-one heard them scream. In the morning, their parents found the dead bodies of the Smith Sisters hidden in the bedroom closet. They had been skinned alive. The killer was long gone and no trace of him could be found. They had been murdered anonymously. Police conducted an extensive investigation, but to no avail. The motives for the attack were never discovered, nor was the attacker ever found. The only lead athorities had was a series of strange emails found in Lisa’s computer. The case was closed in October of 2000.”

The sisters were angry at being forgotten, that their parents had replaced them with the new baby, John. John told them to go to hell but five minutes later on an e-mail came to tell him to check the closet and that was the last e-mail he got, it was also the last time he was known to be alive. On the floor of his closet the police found a message carved in wood, “Lisa and Sarah – 1993” and under it “John 2007”.

No one knows what happened but John’s parents woke up to find him missing and in the closet was John. He had been skinned alive!

So does the story have any roots from reality? Ed Gein was an American Serial Killer who murdered people and decorated his house with body parts. He has a far more frightening tale, because he was real.
