So the first part is to point out that the term Red Room can mean two things, the term is a little ambiguous because of the deepweb and surface web.

A Red Room on the deepweb is usually hinted to be a live streaming site where for an expensive fee you can witness murder, rape and other atrocities that are illegal. They might also include live suicide streams and are effectively Pay Per View for things considered taboo. One which, fortunately, turned out to be a steaming pile of cows pat is the ISIS Red Room. 29th August, 2015 at midnight the side (not linked for obvious reasons, and I don’t do Tor links) said it would be streaming caught ISIS members that it planned to torture and ultimately kill them for viewing pleasure. They also added that it would be free.

So the site went down before the live tree, a video then goes up which is clearly awful and then looking on the site brought up an FBI Seizure notification. Yes, the red room that was, never was. Now on to the story I intended to go into.

The Red Room I am going to cover is about a flash animation game and urban legend, in the game two friends are talking about a pop-up that asks the computer user – Do you like Bob? – or a person’s name at any rate. The user then would try to close the pop-up but could not and it results in the death of the person at the computer.

The skeptical friend then goes off to look into this more, he ends up giving in on his quest, then continues along with his normal computer use. Inevitably the message pops up for the friend and he tries to close it, after several attempts the pop-up changes from “Do you like Jane?” etc to “Do you like red?”

The skeptical friend gets annoyed by this and keeps trying to close it down, he then finds that after a while and phrase changes it turns into “Do you like the Red Room?” With this final stage the computer becomes enveloped in names, the person’s name is on the list. The victim ends up committing suicide, coating the walls of their room in blood, hence Red Room.

I have myself played the little flash game that came with the urban legend and the character in the animation does indeed die after his name is added to the list. So… I am still here. Thank you, yes I was super brave… bazinga.

So far it’s a little light-hearted but there is a crime that has sadly been attached to the legend. 1st June, 2004 and Satomi Mitarai, 12 years old murdered a younger female classmate. Her murderer admitted to killing Mitarai over a comment that had been made on the internet. She brutally slashed at the victim and then calmly walked back to her classroom.

So what did this have to do with the Red Room? Well it is said that she had the Red Room game on her bookmark. To me that entire loose link to say it’s part of the Red Room curse is weak, she also had other links but it seems that it adds a level of loose ‘sinister’ by adding that to the tale. For me the Red Room on the deepweb and the Red Room game are different and so is the killing of an innocent student. For me I would say whilst I wrote about the game and the incident, keep them separate. One is a silly urban legend with a flash animation, the other is a tragic loss of life.

This isn't the original game, I just played this one as wellredroom.png

The Manila Film Centre is a national building located in Pasay City, in the Philippines. From 18th to the 29th of January 1982 the building was the main theatre for the 1st Manila International Festival. A great deal of consultation went into the building and over 4,000 workers working in shifts across 24 hours. Unisco’s input was considered invaluable in parts of the design.

In 1981 about 3am on the 17th November an awful accident occurred. The buildings scaffolding collapsed and at least 168 workers fell and were buried in the quick drying cement. Marcos administration immediately imposed security there and they would not allow rescuers or ambulances to the site. This was because they would not allow them on the site until an official statement had been prepared. They were finally allowed there nine hours later.

In 2005 GMA Network’s i-witness produced a documentary that stated all 168 workers were traced, a dozen died and the bodies were recovered for a proper burial. However there are stories that this was a cover up and that workers were willingly buried alive in the concrete.

The building had been leased on various occasions and is currently in use. In 2013, it had a three-hour fire that had costly damages but fortunately no casualties.

The events of 1981 have led to an urban legend that before rescuers made it in the workers there were entombed alive. The bodies were left in hardened concrete slabs and “spirit questors” confirmed that the spirits are crying out for their recovery and a proper burial.

I could find no particular experiences listed that could give me more about the paranormal side but probably because this is an urban legend that has sprang up around a tragedy.

Here is a little video about the history of the place.

This is not unholy a new subject but I was asked to cover this one by a friend and so here goes! Tara is an android, a robot who can be found by looking around on the general internet. The most often is a cut down clip of her singing “I feel fantastic”. Tara is a blond-haired an blue eyed female android and my friend asked me to look into the rumours and the information about her.

In advance I’d like to say I do not really find it all that creepy to watch her. I found Tara to be an interesting project, someone who is passionate about making robotics and used the internet to show off their work. The creator is John Bergeron and he posted Tara and other projects in the website androidworld.

Tara is a full-body project but on his original site he had a hand, which in my view, explains the building process on a smaller project size. The hand is mostly metal on the inside, it has a removable glove, made of synthetic rubber in order to try and create a fleshy look. The hand has DC motors and uses analogue chips and at the time of undertaking it I think it looked like a rather cool project. Videos of both Tara and his other two hand-styled robot projects that were all made available on VHS.

John Bergeron seems to have been a creative man on his side, he has since taken it down although its being geocities it’s pretty much a defunct server. At one point on the site he had offered up the purchase of a robotic voice for use to greet visitors for something like theme parks or reception type affairs. If you had a personal computer you should link this up and create the messages you wanted for your guests. The software program could be used to create an interactive experience for the guests and you could download a sample of the voice.

You could make an offer to buy the project too, there was no listed price but as someone who works in the bespoke product market this should not necessarily be seen as something unusual. However you would get the following things for the purchase:

  1. Robot you can use for display as the “greeter”, for indoor use only.

  2. Intelligent chat program.

  3. Tech Support to set up the software.

You would have collected this directly from Bergeron as it was a heavy set of equipment, and he was listed in the Vermont, USA area. To me this also goes to show you that Bergeron is an electronics type of gent with a vision that is nothing dissimilar to ChihiraAico by Toshiba. If you haven’t seen her before here is the relevant video:

and yes I have deliberately picked the version of her singing, Creepy or cool? Same kind of scenario here.

So what about Tara and why is she on this blog? I think it helps to see what other information is out there, not to mention there is a Creepypasta so of course it’s already a bunch of fiction. As I said I don’t think that she is creepy, I think that she is an interesting project on a scientific level.

  1. Tara was made by a serial killer who dressed her in his victims clothing. The killer loved the noises his victims make, to the point of having her sing about it hence “I feel fantastic” and the shots of the gardens are of places his victims are buried. When the robot stopped singing the victim was dead or the cries were transformed into her singing (take your pick).

  2. The creator of Tara had put up that he was in the process of doing some upgrades and when he finished she killed him. The reason he went quiet is because Tara killed him and now she is out wandering around somewhere.

Well let us be fair both are wrong, John Bergeron is very much alive and has been contacted, and understandably refused to discuss the project with random strangers. I am sorry to say this to those people out there that have rang him, you are quite invasive to expect a man to take a call and just explain away what is obvious nonsense. If I am ever proven wrong well I will (if alive) redact that statement.

Tara’s listing can be found on www.androidworld.com/prod10.htm and explains that she was built for about $2,000 and is 5 Feet and 10 inches, she is described as anthropomorphic. It says that Tara cannot walk about, so how is she wandering amongst us now unless she’s had a very serious overhaul? She can also be found on a 15 minute long DVD with five songs on it.

You can purchase it on androidworld but I am not that big on the idea of buying it, I think for me a plushie of a BB8 robot is my limit on these types of matters.

There is zero proof that the creator is a serial killer, the clothes are most likely just ones he has brought for the purpose of cover over the androids body and if there was sufficient grounds for concern about it the police would have been involved. Most of this is utter speculation and fiction, the only truthful part I can find is the project of building her, the garden is probably just something on a VHS Video that was on there. VHS was not as easy to manipulate and clip as modern software…

To me this is just people using the android for a medium of scare factor, incorrect assumptions and in some cases just outright misinformation. So I hope that this helps you and if you can prove me wrong I’d like the actual evidence not just an extract from a creepypasta or listverse style click-bait.

Enjoy!

The pneumatic railway was built near Crystal Palace in South London, around 1864 and was effectively a vacuum-driven train that ran for about a year. The power came from a giant steam-powered fan and the fan was reversed for the return journey where the carriage used brakes at each end. Remnants of the tunnel were uncovered around 1992 in the Crystal Palace Gardens.

In 1978, 19 year old Pamela Goodsell claimed she had found the tunnel and within it was an old railway carriage. Her story also included the bizarre details that the occupants were in the train still and were skeletons still dressed in their Victorian garb. The tunnel however was not found at that stage, some believe it was destroyed by construction work in 1911 for the Festival of Empire celebrations. The celebrations were to celebrate the coronation of King George V.

The story may have more origins as a creepy tale in the 1930’s from local school children, the exact origin of the story does not seem to have been found however. The children’s tale says the tunnel was shut down as a commuter train was trapped when the tunnel collapsed. The local tale goes that they couldn’t get out the train or the passengers and so walled it up with the souls left trapped inside. From looking around on the internet if there ever was a train there then it was more likely retrieved and used for scrap not left buried with people inside.

I cannot help but think it’s more likely a themed ride at Disney than an actual event! It makes for a good story… but I am going to go with urban legend on this one.

Crystal Palace Athmosperic Rly.1864

THIS IS AN URBAN LEGEND and is a creepypasta entry, it seems that like the slenderman creation the lines have become blurred for some. I have entered this on the blog because I find the story a good piece of fiction but I don’t want anyone fooled that it is anything more than that.

S the tale goes roughly – in 2010 the story emerged that the Soviet Sleep Experiment began in the 1940’s and that Russian researchers explored five political prisoners to an experimental stimulant to keep them awake and then watched what happened.

At first the men seemed fine, but the sleep deprivation slowly changed them until they were into states of paranoia. As the days with no sleep continued the paranoia escalated and it became frighteningly desperate as they screamed and yelled, this hysteria became contagious between them all and one screamed so loud it tore his vocal chords, after this they all went silent.

Three days after the scientists then went on to check their prisoners only to find a gruesome event had unfolded. Four of the prisoners had turned on the other, beaten him to death and then eaten him. The madness also led them into biting off their own fingers, tearing chunks out of their own skin and have even gone so far as to attempt to disembowel themselves. They had not touched the food rations left for them, the gas that was gone was causing more concern as the prisoners yelled that they wanted to be put back on it, they would NOT fall asleep again! The story carries on more horrifically and the link Www.creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/The-Russian-Sleep-Experiment gives you more of it.

However remember that this really is just a work of fiction. If you are tired go to sleep, if you are awake don’t try and gas yourself into staying that way. Stay safe my friends!

I have updated this with the youtube reading, it’s well done and gives you a good narrative if you are interested. This one is a good creepypasta because of the way it is written and the fact that it takes the idea that some of the scientific community would not consider human experimentation unethical.
